I've Realized

I live for food.

Strange realization, beings as I grew up on Food Bank Food. For those of you who don't know, that's like, week old donuts that are past their sell by date, cereal from another country, or cans of meat with white labels.

Now, I like to look on the bright side, but there were a few times in childhood where I sucked on bits of notebook paper to get hunger pains to go away, so to realize that most of my fondest memories are food based.
Honestly, I was shocked, but yes, Fooooooooood.

Fry Bread
Maple Bars (or for you not in Montana, "Long Johns")

Those are a few of my favorite things

Cocoa Nibs

For those of you who don't know, cocoa nibs are
Amazing!!

If you ever need a REAL chocolate fix, man, cocoa nibs are unadulterated, relentless chocolate.
Not sweetened, not milky, not unchocolaty in any way.

Cocoa nibs will slap your face with chocolateness.
Cocoa nibs are the lumberjack of the chocolate world. The honey badger.

Cocoa nibs.

Molasses Coffee

    Ok, I tried being good.
   I did. I didn't have coffee for 9 days.

   But I do now. OOOPS!

I've found that MOLASSES IS DELICIOUS!!
God I love molasses! Maybe I'm anemic and need the iron, but MOLASSES! YEEES! I desire to roll around in it like a dog rolls around in gross things or like a cat will roll in catnip!
I also love coffee. LOVE coffee.

  Molasses plus coffee. God yes!

Molassaly Delicious COFFEE

1 - 2 shots espresso (to taste)
1-2 Tbsp molasses
1-2 Tbsp cream
some hot water
perhaps milk (opt)
perhaps steamed milk (opt)

1. Put some hot water in a non-burn-you mug. Swish it around, because, I don't know why, it just feels natural
2. Drip drop your molasses in the mug,
(optional) Lick that spoon!
3. If you're planning on using cold milk, put it in your mug now so when you add your expresso, you won't break your crema. If you're steaming milk, skip this step and continue to step 6
4. Put a shot of espresso in your non-burn-you mug.
5. Look in the mug carefully and assess both your levels of sleepy, your blood pressure and your desire to see that puppy full of coffee.
6. Put your milk to be steamed in a steam-friendly container.
7. Steam your milk.
8. Make a happy face coffee art with your steamed milk!
9. Sip your coffee carefully! It's hot and can burn your precious tasty-tongue AND the longer you take to drink the coffee, the longer you CAN drink your coffee!

Not Coffee

I tried to make some coffee replacement today.

. . . It turned out ok, I guess. But, it's still not coffee.

Stuff:

Not Coffee:

2 tbsp cocoa powder
3 tiny included spoons Better Stevia
1 oz hazelnut syrup (My last shot of Torino)
1/4 c milk
1/2 tsp heavy whipping cream
cold water to taste.

1. Be disappointed about whatever reason it is that you're not making coffee.
2. Make water hot
3. Put the powders in something you can drink out of that won't burn you, like a mug.
4. Pour in your hot water and mix.
5. Add your dairy products and syrup. (If you add the dairy before the hot milk, bad things can happen)
6. Add a bit of cold water so you don't melt your face off.
7. Try a sip. If it's too hot, repeat steps 6 and 7 until you get a good temperature.

Parmesan Chicken Wings!

The other day, I was supposed to meet up with my family. We were going to have a potluck up at the lake 'n' stuff, but, you know, meeting up with them never works well so WHATEVS! WHAT-EVS.

My hubby made Headbanger's Chicken Parmesean Wings, well, drumsticks, and they were de-lic-ious!

We took them over to my husband's family! We hung out with them because they were home and they like to see us!

Well, those drumsticks went so fast I couldn't take a picture.

Post Shopping!

OMG FOOD EVERYWHERE!!

   I'm so happy.
Ended up eating leftovers to clean out the fridge to make room for our new foods, so nothing to report today.

Look at those cute, colored egg cartons! So cute!

Baby bells and mozzarella bits in a pretty vase make great snacks!
Cheese and Ghee and Cream oh my!

Dough-Nu-Matic

My husband found an automatic donut maker at Goodwill and of course bought it for me because I'm a sucker for pastries.

It doesn't work well, but it's inspired us to save up and open a coffee and donut food truck!

I'm still going to try to use really, really fluid batter in it to see if we can get it working at all

The Day Before Shopping Day

You know the day before you get paid, when your pantry is nearly bare? There is a bottle of some weird condiment there and some cans of, I dunno, something, and you stare at it, all tummy grumbly and hangry?

Well, that's me today, but whereas I'd lament eating the last can of tuna and feed my girls some sort of Leftovers Frankenstein monster, my husband managed to create a creamy, decadent Tomato Soup with like, I dunno, pantry dregs.

I know there is
Canned tomatoes
sugar
butter
nutritional yeast and
cream cheese

in it.

Just amazing what he can do with nearly nothing!

Maybe I can piece together a recipe
